Gas-fired melting furnace for aluminium and non-ferrous alloys up to 1200 °C

Need a melting furnace with high melting output and lower operating costs for foundry production?

The PTP gas-fired melting furnace up to 1200 °C is designed for melting aluminium and other non-ferrous alloys. Thanks to gas burner heating, high-quality insulation and a rotary lid, it provides fast melting, low heat losses and efficient crucible operation.

When is this furnace the right choice?
  • You need to melt aluminium or aluminium alloys
  • You require high melting output
  • You prefer gas heating for economical operation
  • You process tin, zinc, lead, aluminium, silver, gold or copper alloys
  • You need a stationary furnace for continuous foundry operation
  • You require capacities from approx. 185 to 590 kg Al
The PTP furnace is designed primarily for melting operations. A gas burner heats the furnace chamber tangentially around the crucible, supporting efficient heat transfer and high melting performance. If the furnace is intended mainly for holding molten metal, design modifications may be required.

Key features:

  • Maximum temperature 1200 °C
  • Recommended crucible operating range 650–1000 °C
  • Gas burner heating
  • Rotary lid to reduce heat losses
  • Cast iron crucible collar
  • Emergency safety opening in the furnace bottom
  • Melting output up to approx. 400 kg Al/hour
  • Available capacities from approx. 185 to 590 kg Al

Typical applications

The PTP furnace is suitable for foundry operations where aluminium and non-ferrous alloys must be melted efficiently and economically before casting.

  • Melting of aluminium and aluminium alloys
  • Melting of tin, zinc and lead alloys
  • Melting of copper-based alloys
  • Melting of precious metal alloys
  • Preparation of melt for casting operations
  • Foundry melting workplaces

Typical industries

  • Aluminium foundries
  • Non-ferrous metal foundries
  • Automotive industry
  • Mechanical engineering
  • Metal casting production
  • Precious metal processing

Main benefits

  • High melting output
  • Lower heat losses thanks to insulation and rotary lid
  • Lower operating costs compared to electric melting
  • Long crucible service life
  • Suitable for continuous foundry production
Suitable for customers who need a gas-fired melting furnace with high melting output and efficient operation for aluminium and other non-ferrous alloys.

If molten metal needs to be maintained at temperature rather than melted, consider the PTE Mk.II holding furnace. For tilting discharge of molten metal, consider the PTSP gas-fired tilting melting furnace.

Typical melting output

  • PTP 200/12 – approx. 140 kg Al/hour
  • PTP 300/12 – approx. 150 kg Al/hour
  • PTP 350/12 – approx. 250 kg Al/hour
  • PTP 600/12 – approx. 400 kg Al/hour

Optional accessories available at additional cost

  • Crucible
  • Charging thermocouple with protective tube
  • Thermocouple in the crucible wall
  • Oil burner
  • Double fuel burner
  • Connection between the furnace and the switchboard, within a metal hose with a protective metal sheath. The metal hose with a protective metal sheath on the surface should always be used for hoses with lengths exceeding 5 m.
  • Measuring loop calibration (thermocouple + controller)
  • System to check for cracks in the crucible

Note: When combining accessories for an extra charge, consult the design with our technical office.
