Electric melting furnace for aluminium alloys up to 1100 °C

Need to melt and hold aluminium efficiently, even in a foundry with limited installation space?

The PT Mk.II melting furnace up to 1100 °C is designed for foundries that need efficient aluminium melting, stable holding temperature, compact dimensions and easy maintenance.

When is this furnace the right choice?
  • You need to melt aluminium and aluminium alloys
  • You also need to hold molten aluminium at casting temperature
  • You require a furnace chamber temperature up to 1100 °C
  • You want to reduce energy consumption during melting and holding
  • You have limited installation space in the foundry
  • You need easy crucible and heating element replacement
The PT Mk.II furnace uses a compact octagonal design, modern insulation materials and heating spirals placed in grooves of refractory castable blocks. This supports efficient heat transfer, protects the heating elements and helps reduce heat loss during operation.

Key features:

  • Maximum furnace chamber temperature 1100 °C
  • Maximum temperature for long-term operation 1000 °C
  • Recommended operating range in crucible 650–850 °C
  • Electric resistance heating
  • Melting and holding of aluminium alloys
  • Octagonal furnace design
  • Emergency drain at the bottom of the furnace
  • Available aluminium capacity from approx. 105 to 1250 kg

Typical applications

  • Melting of aluminium and aluminium alloys
  • Holding of aluminium and aluminium alloys
  • Preparation of molten aluminium before casting
  • Foundry melting workplaces
  • Support furnace for die-casting operations
  • Small and medium aluminium casting operations

Typical industries

  • Aluminium foundries
  • Non-ferrous metal casting plants
  • Die-casting operations
  • Automotive suppliers
  • Mechanical engineering
  • Toolmaking and mould production
  • Maintenance and repair foundries

Main benefits

  • Melting and holding in one furnace
  • Energy-efficient furnace design
  • Stable crucible temperature
  • Easy replacement of crucible and heating elements
  • Emergency drain for increased process safety
Suitable for customers who need an electric melting furnace for aluminium alloys with compact dimensions, easy maintenance and stable holding conditions.

For applications focused mainly on holding molten aluminium, consider the PTE Mk.II electric holding furnace. If transport of molten aluminium is required, consider the PTT transport holding furnace.

Melting furnace or holding furnace?

  • Choose PT Mk.II for melting and holding aluminium alloys
  • Choose PTE Mk.II when the main task is holding molten aluminium
  • Choose PTT when transport of molten aluminium is required

Optional accessories available at additional cost

  • Crucible
  • Charge thermocouple of the K type with protective tube
  • Thermocouple of the K type in the wall of the crucible (not possible for PT 100/11 Mk.II)
  • Ht205 controller
  • Work cycle monitoring with USB output
  • Preparation for connecting the lid with the batching equipment of a casting device
  • System to check for cracks in the crucible
  • Measuring loop calibration (thermocouple + controller)
  • Connection of the furnace with the switchboard, within a metal hose with a metal sheath. The metal hose with a protective metal sheath on the surface always should be used for hoses with lengths exceeding 5 m.
  • RS232 or EIA485 interface (software + interface), it is necessary to use a controller (Ht205)
  • Signalling when the temperature drops below 650 °C
